This measure sought to increase the current fire levy by a rate of $.75 per $1,000 of assessed value for a period of two years in order to further pay for fire and emergency medical operational costs in the township.

The question on the ballot:
|Shall the limitation on the total amount of taxes which may be levied against all properties in the Township of Centerville, Leelanau County, Michigan, for all purposes be increased as provided by section 6, Article 9 of Michigan Constitution by an amount not to exceed 0.75 mills ($.75 per thousand dollars of taxable value) as established by the State of Michigan on all properties in Centerville Township for a period of two years (2012 and 2013) to be used for equipment and operation of the fire and ambulance departments within the township, and shall the Township levy such increase in millage for such purpose(s) during such period which will raise in the year 2012 an estimated $69,180.00 and in the year 2013 an estimated $72,065.00?|
