The Central/Westosha Referendum was a measure on the January 20 ballot due to the school board of the Central High School District of Westosha, which lies in Kenosha County and Racine County, where it passed. The measure asked the voters if they are in favor of issuing up to $7,890,000 in debt to the school district in order to pay for improvements to the school's infrastructure.
The referendum passed.[1]
Status
Passed. Final numbers, according to the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction Referenda Database, are 1133 "yes" votes and 673 "no" votes.[2]
Unofficial vote tally of 1133 "yes" votes and 598 "no" votes according to the district.[3]
Tax impact
The district will be retiring a debt in 2012, which would lower property taxes. If this measure is approved, rather than allowing taxes to lower they will remain at the same level they are currently.[4]
