Charles Kendall Hatchett is a 2014 Democratic candidate seeking election to the U.S. House to represent the 1st Congressional District of Kentucky.[1] Hatchett defeated Wesley Bolin for the nomination in the Democratic primary on May 20, 2014.[2]

He was a 2012 Democratic candidate who sought election to the U.S. House to represent the 1st Congressional District of Kentucky. Hatchett defeated James Buckmaster in the Democratic primary on May 22, 2012, but was defeated by Ed Whitfield (R) in the general election.[3]

Biography

Hatchett was born on September 24, 1951, at Riverside Hospital in Paducah, Kentucky.[4]

Career

He is a real estate broker and a principal auctioneer.[4]

2012

Hatchett outlined four points which he "stood for" on his campaign website.[5]

  • "Praying in Jesus' Name to the God of Creation."[6]
  • "Revamping trade agreements to free and fair trade, so companies using labor from Asia and Mexico must pay the equivalent to USA minimum wage."[7]
  • "Having a congressional council like a small city mayor has a city council. The council will oversee the district affairs including the vote."[8]
  • "Being committed to the people. We will go forward through the future frontier. The wagon train will be made up of the old, the young, the sick, the unemployed, the non-voters and no one will be left beside the trail. I intend to make it with the whole family intact. This nation needs to remember how futures are built."[9]

Hatchett was also in favor of creating a National Reserve in Western Kentucky for American's horses.[4]

Hatchett is running in the 2014 election for the U.S. House to represent Kentucky's 1st District.[1] Hatchett defeated Wesley Bolin for the nomination in the Democratic primary on May 20, 2014.[2] The general election takes place November 4, 2014.

Hatchett was defeated by incumbent Ed Whitfield.[10] Hatchett ran in the 2012 election for the U.S. House to represent Kentucky's 1st District. Hatchett won the nomination on the Democratic ticket.[11] Hatchett defeated James Buckmaster in the Democratic primary. He was defeated by incumbent Ed Whitfield, who ran unopposed in the Republican primary. Candidates who wished to run were initially required to file by the signature filing deadline of January 31, 2012. However because the legislature was unable to complete new redistricting maps on time, the deadline was pushed back one week.[12] The new deadline was February 7.[13] The primary elections were held on May 22, 2012.[14]
