Charles McBurney is a Republican member of the Florida House of Representatives, representing the 16th District since 2007.

McBurney is currently a Partner with the law firm of Fischette, Owen, Held and McBurney. He previously served as a Senior Trial Assistant in the State Attorney's Office, Jacksonville from 1984-1990, and was an Associate with Mathews, Osborne, McNalt, Gobelman and Cobb from 1982-1984.[1]

Issues

McBurney did not provide answers to the Florida State Legislative Election 2008 Political Courage Test. The test provides voters with how a candidate would vote on the issues if elected.[2]

McBurney's sponsored legislation includes:

  • HB 17 - "Public School Attendance: Creates Student Preparedness Pilot Program to include Duval County School District as one of selected school districts; allows students 16 to 18 years of age to terminate school enrollment if they meet pilot program requirements for attendance & completion; provides for nontraditional academic options"
  • HB 1237 - "Florida 211 Network: Requires participants in Florida 211 Network to be accredited by Florida Alliance of Information & Referral Services & notify Public Service Commission of such accreditation; provides for revocation of 211 numbers."
  • HB 7037 - "OGSR/Identification and Location Information of Federal Attorneys and Judges: Removes scheduled repeal under Open Government Sunset Review Act of exemptions from public records requirements for identification & location information of current or former U.S. attorneys, assistant U.S. attorneys, current or former judges of U.S. Courts of Appeal, federal district judges, & federal magistrates, & spouses & children thereof"
