Charlie White's lawyer resigns

INDIANAPOLIS, Indiana: Sec. of State Charlie White's lawyer, Jimm Bopp, confirmed his resignation Tuesday. Bopp was representing White in the case regarding charges of voter fraud brought against him earlier this year. White will represent himself in the next round of court hearings. According to Secretary of state’s office spokesman A.J. Feeney-Ruiz, the move is meant to be temporary for the purpose of saving money. White has asked the Indiana Supreme Court to take over the case from a Marion County judge, however, White does not intend to argue his own case before the high court.[1]
In July, an Indiana judge delayed the start of White's voter fraud trial from August 8 till September 12, due to a request by the Indiana Democratic Party to review a June decision that White did nothing wrong.[2] Democratic Chairman Dan Parker said June's outcome deserved a second look.[3]
If White is convicted on Sept. 12, he will automatically lose his office.
