Yang ran in the 2012 election for California State Assembly District 24. He advanced past the June 5, 2012, blanket primary, defeating Geby Espinosa (D) and Joseph Antonelli Rosas (I). Yang was defeated by incumbent Rich Gordon (D) in the general election on November 6, 2012.[2][3]
