Cherron "CC" Newby was a 2012 Republican candidate for District 9 of the Florida State Senate.[1]

Newby was born and raised in Washington, D.C., and moved from Georgia to Florida in 1998.[2]

Newby owns her own construction final cleaning business.[2] Prior to starting her business, she worked as an administrative assistant for a former Congressman, at the Pentagon and with the Department of Defense. Currently she is an instructor for the Environmental Service Program at the Clara White Mission and is an authorized OSHA trainer.[2]

Newby ran in the 2012 election for Florida State Senate District 9. Newby ran unopposed in the Republican primary on August 14, 2012 and was defeated by incumbent Audrey Gibson (D) in the general election which took place on November 6, 2012.[1]

Newby is the mother of three daughters, two of whom are veterans, and also has a goddaughter, three grandsons and two granddaughters.[2]
