Cheryl A. Johncox was a 2012 Democratic candidate for District 86 of the Ohio House of Representatives. It was her first time running for office.[1]

Biography

Johncox attended the Ohio State University Marion and Columbus, graduating Cum Laud with Distinction- College of Food, Agriculture and Environmental Sciences, School of Natural Resources. She earned a B.S. in Natural Resources in 2007. Johncox also studied Agriculture and Natural Resources abroad at the Universidade de Sao Paulo, Escola Superior de Agricultura- Sao Paulo Brazil.[1]

Johncox has worked as an Agriculture and Natural Resources policy analyst, and is currently serving as Executive Director of the Buckeye Forest Council.[1]

Explaining why she ran, Johncox stated:[1]

"In the Ohio House, I will be an advocate for my neighbors, supporting economic development, safe environmental policy, and opposing dangerous trends toward consolidation that take control out of our communities. I firmly believe that the farther away government is, the harder it is for it to hear you. I am running so that someone at the Statehouse will listen."

Johncox ran in the 2012 election for Ohio House, District 86. Johncox was unopposed in the March 6 Democratic primary election and was defeated by District 83 incumbent Dorothy Pelanda (R) in the general election which took place on November 6, 2012.[2][3][4][5]
