There was a Chetek-Weyerhaeuser School Consolidation Referendum on the November 3 ballot in Barron County for voters in these two school districts. This consolidation comes after the two school district's board members discussed funding issues and student ratios and after a petition was filed to have the referendum go to a vote rather than be totally decided upon by the board members. Students will have to adjust, those from Chetek will be now going to the Weyerhaeuser schools and although it will be a change, most students and families see it as a positive change because it will give those Chetek students better opportunities in the bigger schools. The two school districts will help each other and share debts incurred for school improvements.[1]
