Hage earned his bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He went on to receive his JD from Chicago-Kent College of Law in 1997. He has worked as a prosecutor for the DuPage County State Attorney's Office. He has also served as legal counsel to the State Senate Judiciary Committee.

Hage ran in the 2012 election for Illinois House of Representatives District 42. Hage was defeated by Jeanne M. Ives in the Republican primary on March 20, 2012.[1][2]

Hage and his wife, Elizabeth, have one child.
