Potts was defeated by incumbent Alan Nunnelee.[1] Potts ran in the 2012 election for the U.S. House, representing Mississippi's 1st District. As the nominee on the Reform ticket, he faced incumbent Alan Nunnelee (Republican), Brad Morris (Democratic), Jim R. Bourland (Constitution), and Danny Bedwell (Libertarian) in the November 2012 general election.[2]
