Charles "Chuck" Gipp (b. November 30, 1947) is the Director of Natural Resources in Iowa. He was appointed by Gov. Terry Branstad on May 31, 2012, following the resignation of Roger Lande.[1][2]

Biography

A lifelong dairy farmer, Gipp served nine terms in the State House, representing Iowa's 16th legislative district from 1990-2008. He was majority leader from 2003-2007. In 2008 he became soil conservation administrator for the Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship, a position he remained in until being named deputy director of the Iowa Department of Natural Resources in July 2011.[2][3]

Political career

Iowa Director of Natural Resources (2012-present)

Gipp was appointed by Gov. Branstad to head the state Department of Natural Resources after former director Roger Lande stepped down in May 2012.

Iowa House of Representatives (1991-2009)

Gipp represented Decorah in the Iowa State House from 1991-2009, and served as House Majority Leader beginning form 2003-2007. He vacated his seat rather than run for re-election in 2008.[2]

On May 31, 2012, Iowa Governor Terry Branstad appointed Gipp to replace Roger Lande as the state's Director of Natural Resources.
