City of Banks, Four Proposed Charter Amendments (November 2009)
Measure 34-169: The first amendment sought to change the term of office for the mayor to two years. Previously it was set at a four year term.
Measure 34-170: The second sought to amend Charter section 24, numbering the council member's seats instead of them being voted in through specific districts. This amendments made it so any person wanting to run for council can seek a specific position on that council.
Measure 34-171: The third amendment sought to make the City Manager the sole person in charge of hiring people and supervision of the City Recorder Office.
Measure 34-172: The fourth amendment sought to make the city charter easier to read. It asked if the charter should be edited and amend for grammatical errors, punctuation and capitalization of pronouns and style.
All four amendments were approved.
