  • The editorial board of the Long Beach Press-Telegram supported Measure O, writing, "Voter turnout for Long Beach's municipal elections is traditionally low, ushering incumbent City Council members and well-funded candidates into office with a virtual pass to victory. Approving Measure O promises to reverse this trend by consolidating city elections with the rest of Los Angeles County and the state in June and November. It's ridiculous how many elections Long Beach voters currently endure by separating city and school ballots from the traditional June-November cycle. A sort of voter fatigue has set in, leading to low voter turnout under the city's current cycle of April runoffs followed by a general election held in June."[1]

Ballot question

The question on the ballot:

Measure O: "Shall Measure O, which amends the Long Beach City Charter to change the dates of the Primary and General Municipal Elections be adopted?"[2]
