City of McFarland Measure E appeared on the June 3, 2008 ballot in Kern County, California, where it was defeated. Had it passed, it would have imposed a utility tax on residents.
The wording on the ballot will read, "Shall an ordinance be adopted establishing a utility users tax to fund general city services, including essential services such as police and fire protection, animal control, building inspection and plan checks, planning, public works and other administrative services, and road maintenance and repair?"
