A Colfax elementary school bond proposition, also known as Measure Q, appeared on the November 4, 2008 ballot in Placer County, California, for voters in the Colfax elementary school district.

Measure Q was defeated with 53.59% of the vote. (To pass, as a school bond measure, a supermajority vote of 55% was required.)

  • Yes: 1,320 (53.59%)
  • No: 1,143 (46.41%)

The question on the ballot was:

“To provide comparable quality classrooms and technology as other nearby schools, update electrical systems to improve student access to computers/modern technology, construct a science/computer/vocational classroom laboratory to provide job skills, install solar panels to reduce utility costs, shall Colfax School District issue $2,500,000 of bonds at legal rates, to acquire, construct, repair, equip schools, with no money for administrators’ salaries, independent public audits, and spending annually reviewed by a citizens’ oversight committee?”

Comparison

Altogether, there were 95 school bond measures on the November 4 ballot across California. Of the 95, just eight were defeated. Measure Q is one of the eight that was defeated.
