  • Yes: 316,611 (62.2%) Approveda
  • No: 192,267 (37.8%)

Issue 1's ballot title was, "Providing for four year terms of office, beginning in January, 1959, for Governor, Lieutenant Governor, Secretary of State, Auditor of State, State Treasurer, and Attorney General."
