A Colorado Identification Question did not make the November 1, 2011 ballot in the state of Colorado as a legislative referral. The measure would have required that residents show identification in order to receive certain public services. It was proposed in order to curtail illegal immigrants from receiving these services. The measure would have been an alternative to a Colorado bill considered at the time that was similar to Arizona's immigration law. The Arizona law that was signed on April 23, 2010 by Governor of Arizona Jan Brewer made illegal immigration a crime in Arizona and mandated that state and local police question a person's immigration status if there were any suspicions that they were illegal immigrants.[1]
