A Columbia School District Bond Measure was on the April 3, 2012 ballot in the Columbia school district which is in Boone County.
This measure was approved
- YES 8,660 (61.05%)

- NO 5,525 (38.95%)[1]
This measure sought to issue a bond in the amount of $50 million in order to pay for school construction projects, renovation and equipping projects in the district. Since it was approved, the levy paid by residents will also increase by $.12 in order to pay for the bond money. A new elementary school, children learning center and facility upgrades are all projects which will benefit from the bond money.[2]
The Columbia Chamber of Commerce gave its support behind this measure, noting that the district continues to grow and the need for additional revenues also continue to grow.[3]
Text of measure
The question on the ballot:
| Shall The School District of Columbia, Boone County, Missouri, issue its general obligation bonds in the amount of Fifty Million Dollars ($50,000,000) for the purpose of acquiring and developing sites for school buildings and acquiring, constructing, improving, extending, repairing, remodeling, renovating, furnishing and equipping new and existing school facilities, including, without limitation, acquiring and developing sites for and constructing new elementary schools, renovating and constructing additions to existing buildings, roof replacement, and transportation facility site improvements? If this proposition is approved, the debt service levy of the school district is estimated to increase by approximately 12 cents, from $0.8019 to $0.9219, per $100 of assessed valuation of real and personal property.[4] |
