A Colusa Sales Tax, Measure A was on the November 4, 2008 ballot in Colusa County, California, for voters in the City of Colusa. It was defeated.

  • In favor: 779
  • Opposed: 1,026 Defeated

Measure A would have imposed a transactions and use tax (commonly known as a sales tax) of one-quarter of one percent, in addition to the 7.25% sales tax already charged in Colusa.

Measure A was paired with an advisory vote on Measure B. Measure B asked the voters whether the revenue from Measure A, if Measure A passed, should be earmarked to support police and fire employee benefits in the City of Colusa.

Measure B passed (903 to 901) but was rendered moot by the failure of Measure A and was, at any rate, purely advisory in nature.
