Comptroller

Duties

The comptroller is charged by Article IV, Section 24 of the Connecticut Constitution with "adjust[ing] and settl[ing] all public accounts and demands, except grants and orders of the general assembly." Additionally, he is directed to "prescribe the mode of keeping and rendering all public accounts."

In practice, the comptroller manages the state's centralized accounts payable system, performs financial accounting for state agencies and major programs, and establishes accounting standards for state programs.
