Upon graduating from Cocoa High School, Miller volunteered to enlist in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. Miller was eventually deployed to Cam Rahn Bay in South Vietnam, winning the Air Force Commendation Medal and ultimately attaining the rank of Staff Sergeant before he concluded his military service.
After beginning his college studies at the Florida State University and working part-time jobs in Tallahassee, Craig finished his degree at the Florida Technological University--now known as the University of Central Florida. He graduated from the school with a Business Administration major.
Miller ran in the 2012 election for the U.S. House to represent Florida's 6th District. Miller sought the nomination on the Republican ticket. The signature filing deadline for candidates wishing to run was June 8, 2012. The primary elections were held on August 14, 2012. Miller was defeated by Ron DeSantis in the Republican primary on August 14, 2012.
