Curt Thompson (b. December 15, 1968) is a Democratic member of the Georgia State Senate. He has been a Senator since 2004 and currently serves the 5th district.
Education
Thompson earned his BA in International Studies/Broadcast Journalism from American University in 1990. He went on to receive his JD from Georgia State University College of Law in 1992.
Professional experience
Thompson has been an attorney since 1993. He has also worked as Staff Attorney for the International Brotherhood of Police Officers from 1997 to the present. He is currently a Labor Lawyer for Service Employees International Union and a Staff Attorney for the International Association of Firefighters.
Political experience
Thompson is a past member of the Mary Squires State Legislative Campaign. In 1992 he served as a member of the Gwinnett County Democratic Party. He served in the Georgia State House of Representatives from 2002 to 2004. He then joined the Georgia State Senate in 2004. He has served in that position since, representing the 5th district.
