Sprague advanced past the September 14 primary election. He faced incumbent Roger Berube (D), incumbent Deanna Rollo (D), incumbent Kenneth Ward (D), Dale Spainhower (D), Brian Scanlan (R), Kristen Larsen (R), Philip Munck (R), and Laurie Deptula (R) in the November 2 general election.

On November 4, 2008, Sprague finished first for the five-seat Strafford District 2 in New Hampshire receiving 3,731 votes, ahead of Democrats Roger Berube(3,725), Kenneth Ward(3,600), Michael Rollo(3,308) and others(38).[2]
