Lawrence ran unopposed in the Republican primary on June 12. He was defeated by incumbent Bakari Sellers in the general election on November 6.[1][2]

Lawrence was a Republican candidate for the District 120 in the South Carolina House of Representatives in the November 2, 2010, state legislative elections. He did not have any opposition in the June 8 primary. He was defeated by incumbent William Bowers in the November 2 general election.[3]
