Dan Schwartz was a Republican candidate for the office of Treasurer for the state of Nevada in the 2014 election.[1][2] He announced his candidacy July 8, 2013.[3] Dan Schwartz won the general election on November 4, 2014.

Schwartz' last bid for political office was in 2012, when he ran unsuccessfully for election to the U.S. House to represent the 4th Congressional District of Nevada.

Biography

Schwartz grew up in Chicago and obtained his bachelor's degree from Princeton University. He then went on to earn his J.D. from Boston University and his MBA from Columbia University. He served in the U.S. Army from 1972 through 1974 before working in the financial industry in Houston and New York. He then moved to Hong Kong to become CEO of Asian Venture Capital Journal. In 2006, AVCJ was purchased by a British media company and Schwartz now serves as Chairman Emeritus. He is also the founder and CEO of Qiosk.com.[4]

Schwartz ran for election as Nevada Treasurer. He was uncontested in the Republican primary election on June 10, 2014.[1] The general election took place November 4, 2014.

Schwartz ran in the 2012 election for the U.S. House to represent Nevada's 4th District.[5] Schwartz lost to Danny Tarkanian in the Republican primary on June 12, 2012.[6][7]

Personal

Schwarz lives in southern Nevada with his wife, Yanan Ding. He has two children from a previous marriage.[8]
