During tough times, all of us have to cut back. But it seems too many of our elected officials are still addicted to the same old “spend-now-pay-later” brand of politics that put us in this mess in the first place.
I’ve been working to change that. I’m forcing Helena to be more frugal and focus on the priorities — like education, law enforcement and roads — while allowing a free people to make their own decisions and allow employers to get our economy back on track.

Skattum ran for re-election in the 2012 election for Montana House of Representatives, District 62. Skattum defeated Juanita Lux in the June 5 primary election and was defeated by Reilly Neill (D) in the general election which took place on November 6, 2012.[2][3]

On November 2, 2010 Skattum won election to the Montana House of Representatives. Skattum did not have any opposition in June 8 primary. He faced incumbent Robert Ebinger, Jr. (D) and Anthony Miley (C) in the November 2 general election.
