Roberts ran in the 2012 election for the U.S. House, representing California's 2nd District. He and Jared Huffman (D) advanced past the June 5, 2012, blanket primary, defeating Andy Caffrey (D), William Courtney (D), Larry Fritzlan (D), Stacey Lawson (D), Tiffany Renee (D), Norman Solomon (D), Mike Halliwell (R), Susan Adams (D), Brooke Clarke (Ind), and John Lewallen (Ind). They faced off in the November 6, 2012, general election, and Huffman won.[1][3][4]
