An effort to recall Daniel Tejada, Jesse Christopher Flores, Mario Morones, Sherry Martinez Castillo, John Guerrero, and Johnnie Gomez from their elected positions on the Floresville, Texas, city government was launched in December 2011.[1] The recall effort was abandoned in January 2012 after supporters failed to gather enough signatures.[2] Daniel Tejada is the mayor of Floresville and Jesse Christopher Flores, Mario Morones, Sherry Martinez Castillo, John Guerrero, and Johnnie Gomez are city council members.

Reasons for recall

A group called "Recall Them All" was behind the recall drive. Recall organizers cited alleged malfeasance on the part of the recall targets as the reason for pursuing a recall. The recall petition stated that the mayor and city council adopted a 2011-12 budget that contains numerous material misstatements of revenues, expenditures and other city funds.[3]

Path to the ballot

The recall petition began circulating on December 5th, 2011. In January 2012, Jim Miller, a leader of the recall effort, said that recall organizers would not meet the signature submission deadline of January 17th, 2012. To force a recall election, recall organizers would have needed to collect 500 signatures.[2]
