Danielle Nantkes is a member of the Nebraska state legislature. She also is working as a consultant for Nebraskans United, the group opposing the Nebraska Civil Rights Initiative (2008). For this work through October 6, 2008, she has earned $27,500.

Nantkes joined with term-limited DiAnna Schimek in early 2008 to override Gov. Dave Heineman's veto of Nebraska Legislative Bill 39, a law imposing significant new burdens on the initiative process in Nebraska.

Nantkes is registered as a Democrat. She ran for the Unicameral in 2006 for the first time, winning 55% of the vote in the non-partisan election for the 46th legislative district seat.

Common Cause criticism

Common Cause Nebraska (CCN) has asserted that Nantkes of Lincoln is acting unethically in doing paid work for Nebraskans United.

CCN spokesperson Jack Gould believes that senators should not do paid work on issues they may later be asked to vote on. Nantkes says the criticism is "ludicrous".[1]
