Darlene Fairley is a Democratic member of the Washington State Senate. She represents the 32nd state senate district.[1] Her current term expires in January 2011. She was first elected to the state senate in 1995.
Education
Fairley earned her BA in Political Science from the University of Washington. She went on to do Graduate Work in International Management/International Relations.
Professional experience
Fairley has worked as a school librarian for Pioneer High School. She has also worked as a high school English teacher for International Voluntary Service. She is the owner of Fairlook Antiques. Fairley has also worked as a medica and community development worker for Catholic Community Services.
Political experience
Fairley's political career began with her membership on the Lake Forest Park City Council from 1992 to 1995. She has also served on the Washington State Senate since 1995, representing the 32nd district.

Position on open records
In the 2009 legislative session, Fairley has suggested that she might introduce legislation to close down the State of Washington's Sunshine Committee on the grounds that it has not produced enough to justify its continued existence. Fairley is also sponsoring three bills that make it costlier to obtain public records and to deny them to someone who didn't pay for past requests.[2]
Personal life
Fairley lives in Lake Forest Park, Washington. She is married to Michael and they have one son.
