Dartmouth Government Change Referendum (April 2010)
Residents chose to keep the current form of government.
- YES 2,416
- NO 1,800
This non-binding referendum asked town residents if they wanted to abolish the representative town meeting format and instead choose to have a mayor or town manager that would manage town issues. Several options were given on the ballot for a government change, in the hopes that the select board would have a better idea of what residents wanted. If residents do want to get rid of town meetings, a charter commission would have to be elected to officially disband the meetings.
