Issues
Campaign themes
2012
Bowen's campaign website listed the following issues:[1]
- Proper Role of Government
- Excerpt: "We in Idaho aren’t fooled by big government ideas. Idaho has led the nation in pushing back against big government by passing, among other things, the “Idaho Health Freedom Act” Our Legislature told Washington they could keep their out of control Health Care Reform. ...Less Government is better Government."
- Fiscal Responsibility
- Excerpt: "We complain about Washington’s runaway spending yet some would not have us balance the State’s budget because it’s too hard. We need to make good sound budget decisions with our heads rather than our emotions. Just because we want to do it, doesn’t mean that we should do it."
- Economic Development
- Excerpt: "Anyone who tells you that it will be easy to fix our economic problems is lying to you, don’t believe them. We need leaders today who know what it’s like to tighten their belts."
- Education
- Excerpt: " I admire our Educators, the work they do, and the time they spend molding our children into outstanding citizens. Our future will be safe with the next generation thanks to their heroic efforts with our kids."
