Specific votes
Fiscal Cliff
Reichert voted for the fiscal cliff compromise bill, which made permanent most of the Bush tax cuts originally passed in 2001 and 2003 while also raising tax rates on the highest income levels. He was one of 85 Republicans that voted in favor of the bill. The bill was passed in the House by a 257/167 vote on January 1, 2013.[7]
Elections
2012
Reichert won re-election in 2012.[1][8] He and Karen Porterfield (D) advanced past the August 7, 2012, blanket primary, defeating Keith Arnold (D), Ernest Huber (R), Keith Swank (R), and James Windle (I). They faced off again in the general election on November 6, 2012.[9][10][11]
Redistricting in 2012 added conservative territory to Reichert's 8th district. As such, Reichert's main challenge may be from the right, rather than the Democratic opposition he has faced in previous years. Swank has claimed to be more conservative than the incumbent.[12]
