David Wanzenried is a Democratic member of the Montana State Senate, representing District 49. He was first elected to the chamber in 2006. Wanzenried did not seek re-election in 2014.

He was also a candidate for the Governor of Montana in the 2012 election, but withdrew from the race on July 8, 2011.

Wanzenried served in the Montana House of Representatives from 2001 to 2007. From 2005 to 2007, he was House Democratic Leader.

On November 2, 2010, Wanzenried won election to the Montana State Senate. He had no primary opposition. Kevin Kerr ran for the seat on the Republican ticket. The general election took place on November 2, 2010.[1][2]

On November 7, 2006, Wanzenried won election to the 49th District Seat in the Montana State Senate, defeating opponents Rusty VanOverbeck (R) and Will Stock (L).[3]
