In January 2014, Coss denied that he showed any favoritism to a former campaign contributor or a restaurant at the Santa Fe airport facing an IRS lien. Specifically, the Santa Fe Airport Grill, run by officials who have supported Coss politically, received a lease in the airport, but the restaurant was alleged to owe more than $108,000 to the Internal Revenue Service since 2010. “That lease (for the grill) was done a long time before I was on the scene,” said Coss, who denied that any political contributions from the restaurant’s officials had bearing on the city’s dealings with the business’s lease.
