David DeFrank was a 2012 Republican candidate for District 23 of the California State Assembly.

DeFrank grew up in Fresno, California. His mother and father met as students at California State University Fresno. When David was two, he and his father were in a head-on vehicle collision. David's father died immediately and David sustained serious injuries. David's mother worked nights at Marie Callender's on Cedar & Shaw in Fresno so that she could spend days with her children. She eventually remarried Dave DeFrank, who legally adopted David while he was in grade school.

David attended Manchester G.A.T.E., Computech Middle School and Edison High School. He went on to earn his B.A. with majors in History and Political Science at UC Davis. He worked as a professional writer before returning to UC Davis to earn J.D. and M.B.A. degrees.

David was Executive Director of a not-for-profit statewide voter registration organization that registered more than 57,000 anti-Obamacare voters in the 2010 election cycle. DeFrank oversaw a seven figure budget and also served as general counsel to the organization.

David currently works as an attorney representing agricultural companies in the Central Valley.[1]

DeFrank announced that he would decline per diem payments given to legislators in the California State Assembly.[2] DeFrank opposes the High Speed Rail project and supports making the California legislature part-time.[3]
