An effort to recall David Schutt from his position as the Lake County, Oregon District Attorney fell short in June 2012.[1] Three recall campaigns have been launched against Schutt, but none have been successful.

Schutt was defeated in a re-election bid in May 2012, but Ulys Stapleton, who defeated Schutt, is not scheduled to take office until January 1, 2013. Mark Webber was the chief petitioner in the recall effort. Webber said recall supporters collected 609, more than the 470 signatures necessary to force an election, but the state elections office invalidated the petitions because they were incorrectly dated. Weber said he plans to continue to pursue recall efforts against Schutt until Schutt is out of office. Shutt is accused of being overly aggressive in prosecuting cases, and out of touch with the community.[1]
