Potts ran in the 2012 election for Michigan House of Representatives District 40. He ran against Robert Lawrence, Michael D. McCready, and David Wolkinson in the Republican primary on August 7. Incumbent Chuck Moss (R) is not running for re-election and was defeated.[1][2]
