A DeKalb County Vacancy Election Amendment measure was on the November 2, 2010 ballot in DeKalb County.

This measure was approved

  • YES 13,793 (80.8%)Approveda
  • NO 3,261 (19.2%)[1]

This measure sought to make an amendment to the county charter so that when there is a vacancy, and the term has more than 12 months remaining, an election will be held for voters to choose a replacement rather than a replacement be appointed by the governor. Proponents saw it as a good thing for the people to decide who should serve, but the cost to hold a special election was a concern.[2]
