An election or ballot measure is Defeatedd defeated when voters choose not to meet the conditions set for its enactment.

Ballot measures

Most states require only a simple majority vote for approval. But in some states there are additional requirements for certain types of measures such as a certain super-majority of "yes" votes or a certain voter turnout. For example, California requires a 2/3rds supermajority vote for the approval of local parcel taxes.
