Provost also serves as an At-large Alderman on the Somerville Board of Alderman. Prior to joining the House, Provost had her own private law practice from 1990-2006. She has also worked as Assistant City Solicitor for the cities of Somerville and Newton, Massachusetts.
Provost is a member of the American Civil Liberties Union, Massachusetts Municipal Association, National Organization for Women, Sierra Club, Somerville Community Corporation, and Somerville Museum.[1]

Provost won re-election in the 2012 election for Massachusetts House of Representatives Twenty-Seventh Middlesex District. Provost defeated Harry Kortikere in the September 6 Democratic primary and was unopposed in the general election which took place on November 6, 2012.[2]
