Urban works as a Senior Consultant with the Results Leadership Group. She has been an Adjunct Professor with Three Rivers College, and a Professor with the University of Connecticut, Avery Point.
Urban is a member of the National Association of Women Business Owners, North Stonington Planning and Zoning Commission, Parents Committee of Williams College, and the founder of the Small Business Advocacy Task Force.[1]

On November 4, 2008, Urban won re-election to the Connecticut House of Representatives from Connecticut's 43rd District, defeating Brian Kluberdanz (R). Urban received 8,078 votes in the election while Kluberdanz received 4,601 votes.[5] Urban raised $31,205 for her campaign; Kluberdanz raised $26,460.[6]

The Yankee Institute, a pro-market think tank, releases its Voter Guide after each two-year legislative term. Each member of the Connecticut General Assembly receives a score from 0 to 10 based on how he or she voted in ten key votes. The Institute selects key votes which "reveal the differences between those legislators that would harness the power of individual liberty and the market to improve lives, and those that prefer a centrally-planned approach." A legislator with a 10 voted in agreement with the Yankee Institute on all 10 votes, while a legislator with a 0 voted against the Yankee Institute's views or was absent for all 10 votes.[8]

Urban received a score of 0 on the Yankee Institute's Voter Guide for 2011-12, tied with 72 others for the lowest score among the 152 scored members of the Connecticut House of Representatives. This score was 2 lower than her score of 2 for the 2009-10 term.[8]
Awards
On October 26, 2010, Governing magazine named Urban as one of eight "Public Officials of the Year" for her work on Connecticut's results-based accountability (RBA) system.[9] Other honorees included Georgia Governor Sonny Perdue and Texas Senator John Whitmire and Texas Representative Jerry Madden. Each year since 1994, Governing has selected a handful of state and local officials to honor for standout job performance. The Public Officials of the Year program "recognizes leaders from state, city and county government who exemplify the ideals of public service."[10]
