Dever ran in the 2012 election for North Dakota Senate District 32. Dever ran unopposed in the Republican primary on June 12. He defeated Wanda Rose in the general election which took place on November 6, 2012.[1]

On November 4, 2008, Dever was elected to the 32nd District Seat in the North Dakota State Senate, besting Tom Asbridge (D). [2] Dever raised $6,080 for his campaign, while Asbridge raised $3,750. [3]
