Mission Statement
The mission of the United States Attorney's Office for the District of Columbia is to enforce the criminal laws of the United States and the District of Columbia, represent the interests of the United States in civil litigation, and respond to the public safety needs of the community by leading an effective, well-coordinated law enforcement effort that contributes to the overall goal of improving the quality of life in the District of Columbia[1].
Governance
Both the civil and criminal divisions of the District of Columbia U.S. Attorney's Office is responsible for prosecuting campaign finance laws[2]. A staff of 80 U.S. Attorneys handle criminal cases in the criminal division[3].
The Civil Division handles all prosecution and investigation of civil campaign finance law violations[4].
