Blakey is currently a visiting professor at Delaware State University. He worked in school administration for the Caesar Rodney School District from 1968-1990, and was a Professor at Delaware State College from 1959-1968.
He is a member of the Delaware State Educational Association and Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity. [1]

Blakey ran in the 2012 election for Delaware House of Representatives District 34. Blakey ran unopposed in the Republican primary on September 11, 2012 and defeated Theodore Yacucci, Sr. and Douglas Beatty in the general election on November 6, 2012.[2]
2010
Blakey won re-election to the 34th District Seat in 2010. He had no primary opposition. Blakey defeated Jill A. Fuchs (D) and Michael S. Tedesco in the November 2, 2010 general election.[3]

On November 4, 2008, Blakey won re-election to the Delaware House of Representatives from Delaware's 34th District, defeating G. Bruce Hamilton (D). Blakey received 6,229 votes in the election while Hamilton received 3,933 votes.[4] Blakey raised $13,522 for his campaign; Hamilton raised $3,438.[5]
