The signature-filing deadline for candidates wishing to run in this election was February 7, 2014. Maurice D. Fuller was unopposed in the Democratic primary, while incumbent Donald J. Lehe defeated Franklyn Voorhies in the Republican primary. Fuller will face Lehe in the general election.[1][2]

Lehe defeated Democratic candidate Timothy Downs and Libertarian candidate Steve Helsel with 12,662 votes; Downs received 5,577 votes, and Helsel received 1,019 votes in the November 2 general election.[8]

In the May 4 primary election, Lehe defeated Art Anderson by a margin of 4,479 to 2,730 votes.[9]
