Biography
Norcross attended Camden County College. He began his career as an electrical apprentice, and is currently the assistant business manager of Local 251 of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. Norcross is also a member of the Camden County United Way, and President of the Southern New Jersey AFL-CIO since 1995.[2]

In an interview with the Gloucester County Times, Norcross listed his top priorities:
- "Creating jobs, improving affordability and education will remain my priorities in the next term. The most important issue right now is the slumping economy. That’s why I’ve advocated for numerous measures to make it easier for companies to do business here, so they can grow and create new jobs. In the Senate we’ve passed legislation to provide tax credits for businesses to expand and to create job training programs in high-paying industries like renewable energy. In this economy we must also protect residents from further increases in expenses, especially seniors on a fixed income. That’s why I supported public employee pension and benefit reforms to reduce local expenses, and why I fought to properly fund the senior property tax freeze program. We were also successful in boosting aid for schools this year. Though still not enough, the aid will help provide students the resources they need for a quality education." [3]

Norcross won re-election to the District 5 Senate seat in the 2011 election. He was unopposed in the June 7 Democratic primary election. Norcross defeated Keith Walker (R) in the general election which took place on November 8, 2011. [4]

Endorsements
2011
On August 4, 2011, the New Jersey AFL-CIO denied 22 Democrats, among them most notably senators Stephen Sweeney and Donald Norcross, of their much needed endorsement for this year's election. Earlier this year, Democrats including Sweeney and Norcross defected and voted in favor of stripping public employees of their bargaining power concerning health benefits and pensions, a misstep in light of the labor union endorsements.[9]
Although their endorsements were voted down, Sweeney and Norcross just barely missed the mark. A two-thirds vote of the endorsement convention is needed to bestow an official endorsement. Sweeney and Norcross fell short with 61% and 59%, respectively.[9]
Four Assembly Democrats (also union officials) who voted against the revocation of bargaining rights received enthusiastic endorsements--Thomas Giblin, Wayne DeAngelo, Joseph Egan and Nelson Albano all received endorsements on August 4. No Republicans were endorsed by the AFL-CIO.[9]
Personal
Norcross and his wife have three children and two grandchildren. They currently reside in Camden, New Jersey.
