Donald E. Williams, Jr. (b. July 1, 1957) is a Democratic member of the Connecticut Senate, representing District 29.

Education

Williams earned his BS from Syracuse University in 1980. He went on to receive his JD from Washington and Lee University School of Law in 1986.

Professional experience

Williams was a Law Review Research Editor for Washington and Lee University School of Law. He has also worked as an attorney for Boland, Saint Onge and Brouillard. He was a News and Public Affairs Director for WINY Radio from 1980 to 1983.

Political experience

Williams was Chief Executive Officer for the Town of Thompson. He was also First Selectman for the Town of Thompson from 1987 to 1991. He joined the Connecticut State Senate in 1993 and has served in that position since. In 1997 he served as Senate Assistant Minority Leader. He then served as Deputy President Pro Tempore/Majority Caucus Chair from 2002 to 2004. He has been Senate President Pro Tempore since 2004, representing the 29th district.
