Douglas County School Board recall, Colorado (2011)
An effort to recall members of the Douglas County School Board from their positions was launched in March 2011, but did not go to a vote. The recall was a response to the passage of what was the state's first district-run voucher pilot, using state per-pupil funding to help up to 500 students attend private schools. The board voted unanimously 7 to 0 to approve the new vouchers. Reports did not specify which members or how many members were targeted for recall.
A judge's order temporarily halted the voucher program from being implemented. On November 1, 2011, regularly scheduled school board elections took place in Douglas County, with seven candidates running for three seats on the school board.
